CHALLENGE 6
|
Whether you call it a PLN (Personal Learning Network) or a PLC (Personal Learning Community), there's no denying that teachers love to collaborate. Social networking makes it easy to move beyond the physical walls of your classroom to share with a global community. This month, connect with the world! Follow the directions provided in each module, complete the modules in order, and be sure to ask questions if you need help. Good luck!

IF YOU DO NOT CURRENTLY HAVE A PROFESSIONAL TWITTER ACCOUNT--OR IF YOUR ACCOUNT COULD USE A FACELIFT--PLEASE FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS BELOW.
To sign up for Twitter, go to twitter.com and create a username. Don’t make your username too long, and make it something that identifies you, like your name, rather than a complex or ambiguous nickname. Be sure to complete your biographical & professional information so that people know who you are. Don't be shy: add a photo! Real photos are much better than random images; they help build your relationship with your PLN. When you can’t build trust by meeting people face to face, things like bios and photos hold a lot of weight. Here are some examples to model: Miss Godec, Lee McClain, Ms. Lentino. Need a guiding hand? Use this video to help you. (It's under two minutes.) Watch this two-minute video that answers the question: What's a PLN?
Watch this five-minute video of teachers endorsing their personal decision to become connected educators. Read this blog post entitled, "How My Personal Learning Network Saved My Sanity." Take this brief quiz about what you learned in Module A.
Here's the challenge: Use Twitter to build and expand your PLN.
